That takes me roughly 2 minutes to download so.... If it’s long for you, maybe time to upgrade your internet connection :)

If he’s in the US, he might not have that option. Some places have to get their internet from one provider, and if they don’t offer super-speedy connections, you’re shit outta luck.

Be glad you don’t play Payday 2 - the updates are insane, and frequent...

That being said, there are few areas that aren’t totally rural where you can’t get 50Mbps. Anywhere with cable TV, basically. That would take about 90 seconds to download 572 Megabytes with.

That’s going to take so many floppy disks.

That’s not even a lot...
I had a Pillars of Eternity update last week that was 1.5GB. And I just preloaded The Witcher 3 on Tuesday - and that was a 26GB download.

Overkill has dropped some gig+ updates for Payday before. Sure they could download in no time but Steam decides it wants to download a few megs, unpack it, install it, download a few more megs, unpack, install - yeah its a pain in the ass.

I had to do the math and its around 400 3.5” discs. It comes out to 397.4 so 398 at 1.44MB each, but figure non-optimal disc utilization because of the file sizes and you’re probably going to need a little over 400.
If we go back to the 5.25” 1.2MB discs it would take around 476.8, so probably more like 480.
Looks like somebody has hours of swapping discs ahead of them. And if they are running 5.25” discs with a single sided drive they get to flip the disc halfway through.

Ew, single sided drives.
